I'm inspired by my surroundings from the way light falls on things to the colors of our daily life.
I used to draw and sketch a lot as a child and had an art concentration in high school. I have always been interested in art forms.
I enjoy photographing still life, food, and portraits. I love the contrast of light and dark in highlights and shadows. I'm drawn to texture and details of closeup photographs in straight photography but love the whimsical fine art appeal in pictorial photographs too. I’m influenced by both these styles in my own photography. I’m interested in capturing the delicacy of human emotions and the beauty of objects and still life.
I admire how Chuck Close is both a photographer and painter. How he is using both in his creative process is known as photorealism. He focuses mostly on headshots, which are closeup. The close-ups draw you in wanting to know what is on the person's mind. He has inspired me to play with color and lighting to enhance the mood of my portraits.
